Welcome
I wish to take this opportunity to welcome both my new and past students to the banjo/mandolin classes for the Summer 2018 term. This term is a short 8 weeks but still lots of time to learn new tunes and skills. Please see below for course details…
Beginner Class
April 2018
We will initially be looking at some fundamental skills i.e holding the banjo, pick hold, right/left hand position, plucking the strings and familiarizing ourselves with the names of the notes on the fret board. Next we will look at playing the scales of D major and G major and then proceed to learning our first Irish tune ‘Ryan’s Polka’ or often named ‘The Kerry Polka’.
It will take time to getting used to developing the beginner skills but sure thats all part of the fun and challenge. Check back to this page for course updates and news. If for any reason you are unable to attend a class then thats no problem as I will list here what the class is working on.
Improvers Class
April 2018
Great to see a full turn out for the improvers class. This term we will begin with 3 slip jigs namely ‘Na Ceannabháin Bhána’ (Little Fair Cannavan’s) ‘Redican’s Mother’ and ‘Give us a Drink of Water’. Click here to link you to the music pages
