A very rare vintage 1920’s Epiphone Recording A tenor banjo, with custom made17 fret neck.
About the banjo
This is the mid – late X flange model which started its life as a plectrum 22 fret tenor banjo. It was professionally converted to a short scale 17 fret tenor banjo using the original head stock and inlays etc. It is perfect in every way and shaped precisely as any other Epiphone professional model with an added trust rod for extra stability. The 5 piece neck is made from superior grain walnut with a centre ebony strip and maple either side and cream binding side walls with horizontal maple/ebony laminate. The headstock mother of pearl has the decorative floral designs with the Epiphone name & Style A branding. The ebony fretboard has the diamond MOP markers and all new frets and bone nut. The heavy duty 3/4″ maple rim has the bottom mounted one piece flange on the bottom and the 4th generation tone ring, similar to the other high end Epiphone models. The banjo is fitted with a new Remo white smooth top head and 2 legged bridge. Comes with short scale vintage case in good serviceable condition. The banjo was recently professionally lacquer sprayed by Stevie Graham, who does some of the best spray work in the North of the country. This wee banjo must be seen and heard to be believed Serial #6564. I have photographed the short scale beside my Epiphone B to give you an idea of its size. See other details below
