1930 Paramount Tenor Banjo

Written by Paul Conlon. Posted in For Sale

A rare find Paramount 19 fret tenor banjo made by the William Lange Company in late 1929 – 1930 with serial #13411. This model named ‘junior’ is by no means an ‘entry level’ banjo as it bears the similarities of the Paramount Style A.

Banjo Details

Three piece maple neck with centre rosewood strip, side position dot markers and ebony heel cap. Rosewood fretboard with dot position markers and pyralin headstock with engraved name and fitted with Grover tuners (as found on Paragon banjos). Maple resonator with 3 concentric rings on back and multi strips on side walls. The resonator is weightier than other Paramount banjos I have owned with thicker side walls. The flange plate is also thicker than other models similar to the Epiphone banjos and has a scalloped Fleur-de-lis side skirt which is most impressive. Original swivel/tilt tailpiece, new Remo 1102 smooth white top head, handmade rosewood viaduct style bridge and engraved armrest. Nice to see the patented neck height adjuster fitted between the tension band and neck.

The banjo is in excellent condition throughout and comes with the original vintage case in good shape. You’ll search a long while to find this particular Paramount model especially in it’s condition. The action is set low and is very easy to play so grab a bargain before it goes.
