Maya tenor banjo
Maya 19 fret tenor banjo made in Japan around the 1970’s making it a 50 year old instrument. Designed/copied from the famous Gibson Mastertone tenor banjos, these banjos are of solid build and sound and perfect for trad sessions. Either as a second banjo for traveling or gigging with, it would be perfect for fitting a fishman pickup for PA gigs.
Banjo details
Mahogany one piece neck with rosewood fingerboard and bowtie inlays, side white binding and side position dots. The neck is perfectly straight with good wide frets and very low action, it really is an easy banjo to play. The original geared tuners are chrome plated with pearl style buttons and hold the tuning well. The resonator is also made from mahogany with matching white binding, chrome plated flange with bowtie cutouts. The maple rim houses a flathead tone ring which gives this banjo tremendous power and sustain. Recently fitted with Deering renaissance head and one of my cocobola rosewood bridges. Original tail piece and armrest and new nickel strings. The overall condition of the banjo is very good including the chrome plating and original lacquer. Comes with a hardshell case and is very fairly priced. Should you wish to check it out give me a call 07854061995 to arrange a visit.
