Written by Paul Conlon. Posted in Front Page Posts

The “Irish Traditional” banjo from Gold Tone. It has a 11” x 9/16” stained maple rim with a “White Lady” style tone ring and heavy chrome plated metalwork which is excellently done – 24 brackets and a cast “New Kerschner” tailpiece and two way adjustable truss rod. Fitted with a renaissance head produces a sweeter tone with nice sustain bass undertones. The stained maple neck is quite slim with a bound ebony fingerboard with attractive cloud abalone position markers. The scale length is just about 20” with 17 frets. Modern banjo fretting with no noticeable play wear and low action up the fret board. Fitted with good quality planetary tuners. This model comes with a resonator but can be removed and played as an open back tenor banjo. Finished in clear lacquer, very nicely done.

This banjo is very nicely built and produces a pleasant, mellow tone and comes with a Goldtone gig bag. These banjos from new retail at £920 from Eagle Music
