A beautifully cherished 1918 Gibson Style A mandolin in very good condition. Mahogany neck, Sheraton brown stained spruce top, carved, oval sound hole top is Red Spruce, the sides are Maple as is the carved back. The fingerboard and bridge are Ebony.. Original Gibson Tail piece, adjustable bridge, straight neck, good frets with low action, just fitted with new bronze phospher strings. Its very easy to play and has a sparkling clear tone that these mandolins are known for. Fitted with new vintage style waverly tuners but comes with the originals. The pick guard is long gone but these are available through the likes of ebay etc. I’ve owned this little mandolin for years but it’s time someone else enjoyed playing it. Comes with hardshell mandolin case with black fur lining.

Hand crafted 17 fret open-back tenor banjo by Cornwall luthier Cas Davey. This little banjo has so much power and sustain you would not believe. The banjo design is perfectly proportioned for the Trad music session scene, Cas takes his inspiration from the 1920’s open-back tenors, with his own spin to them. He believes for the gigging musician the stability of tuning is a real issue. Adding a more substantial pot, dual coordinator rods and a two way truss rod to the three part neck has brought this right up to date. 17 frets to the body on a 20.75″ scale it a comfortable little banjo to play. A soft V shape neck rather than the modern C allows for more meat on the neck while feeling more slender in the hand. With a nice sharp volute to add some crisp lines to the neck. This little banjo isn’t light either weighing in at 3.8kg but I believe the 1″ birch/rock maple rim complete with archtop tone ring gives this banjo it’s unique sound.
